Our approach
You will get so much more than just a massage at Ashby & Associates Massage Therapy. At our clinic we treat postural related disability in four steps:
1. Assessment
An assessment helps us to:
- analyze posture and movement patterns
- identify limitations
- map joint position
- list muscles which have been elongated or shortened, either of which will make them tense, weak, and predisposed to injury.
2. Strategic treatment
Strategically focused massage therapy breaks down fascial adhesions, allowing you to stretch. Muscular facilitation restores movement and function.
3. Assignment
We tailor exercises for you, with instruction on how to stretch the fascial system and reclaim use of the released postural muscles.
Fascial_1 stretching:
- requires positional exactitude;
- duration dictated by response; requires mental focus, and patience.
Core body strength:
- reconnects your mind to the core muscles, and facilitates their function.
4. Revision
Posture is habitual, and like any habit, it takes time and dedication to unlearn bad habits, and establish sound practices. We monitor your progress with the exercises and make corrections in order to achieve the best results.

Footnotes
1. Fascia provides structure, and organization; surrounding all organs and muscles, it holds them together as a unit, and separates them into parts. Lacking contractile units (as in muscle) fascia adjusts length and shape slowly over time.
Don't just feel better - get better
A massage at Ashby & Associates Massage Therapy won't just leave you feeling better for a little while - it will ensure that underlying problem areas are fully treated.
